Prov. 24:16 “The godly may trip seven times” …
Did you mess up recently, maybe let your anger get the best of you? Perhaps you told someone you would do something and then you didn’t keep your word. Maybe you entertained an unkind thought or engaged in a little neighborhood gossip. Perhaps you cheated on your taxes or haven’t been generous in your giving.
When we fall down or when we mess up (and we all do), we have a choice. We can either stay down and wallow in our failure or get up. If we stay down, condemnation, guilt, or shame are likely to show up to beat us up. If on the other hand, we acknowledge our blunder and reach out to our Savior, He will be there with a hand to pick us up, help brush us off, and get us back into the race.
“The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.” (Proverbs 24:16 NLT) Don’t give up! Remember, He who started this work in you knows you. He understands how frail we are. As we lean into Him in humility, casting all our care, our blunders, our mess-ups on Him, He promises to rescue, sustain, and yes, forgive us.
QUIET YOUR MIND from the flurry of the day and think on these verses:
The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.
Psalm 37:23-24
For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.
James 3:2
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.
Psalm 34:19
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9
For by grace, you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 2:8-10

Until next time, stay strong in His might!
Know that we pray for you every day!
